Fovdemo
A quickly thrown-together program, developed in response to a posting at Flipcode. Lets you fly around a landscape while changing the camera's FOV (field of view), as well as the aspect ratio of the viewport (from widescreen to full-frame). If you zoom the camera out while flying forward, or zoom in while flying backward, you can see a nice Hitchcock effect.

Cool spinning head!
I thought that this demo was very impressive. Here is what the creator has to say about it:
This is first simple OpenGL demo which shows a small GLUT-app for a sphere-mapped 3DS model. The code applies realtime FX (altough at not high speed) to the scene using glDrawPixels and glReadPixels. Shows also other basic OpenGL techniques.

Another very impressive demo using Environment Map Reflection. Here is what the creator has to say about it:
This second demo shows how to use cube mapping for realistic reflections running on even modest hardware (such as the original GeForce 256). Also shows auto generation of mipmaps though the GL_SGI_generate_mipmaps extension and the usage of the excellent OpenIL, OpenILU, OpenILUT library to work with images and textures in OpenGL (see at http://www.imagelib.org)
